
Cleaning & Maintenance Instructions
What to bring...
Renters are asked to provide their own sheets, pillowcases, and bath towels and must clean the home before departure. Refer to the “Clean Before You Leave” below.
Although the property owners provide other essentials such as bathmats, sleeping pillows, and blankets or quilts, it is recommended that you bring preferred essentials based on your discretion.
If any owner-provided essentials are used during your stay, please wash and hang them to dry on the clothesline before departure if weather permits.
This is a smoke-free home and no pets are allowed on the property unless expressly permitted by the owners.
Please take a moment to review a few other requests from the owners about your stay.

Trash & Recycling
Please remove ALL trash and recyclables generated during your stay.
During the summer, refer to Trash & Recycling Guidelines provided by Brackett Rentals. If you have questions, contact BrackettHouse@gmail.com.
There are three large gray outdoor trash bins on the right side of the home along the treeline. Please use these bins to sort recyclables, trash, and returnables respectively.
Seal/close trash bags and place them in one of the bins;
Place recyclables in another bin; and
Place returnables in the third bin.
Look for the returnable symbol on plastic or glass drinking bottles, aluminum cans, and more.

Please be aware that funds will be deducted from the Security Deposit for trash or recycling that is not disposed of properly.
Clean Before You Go
To ensure a full refund of your deposit, please make sure you’ve completed each of the steps below.* And, please leave the house BETTER than you found it!
Thoroughly clean all kitchen counters, stove, microwave, and sink.
Clean all dirty dishes and dry and put dishes away.
If tea or coffee pots were used, please ensure no coffee grounds or tea leaves are left in the pots or filters and clean and dry them.
Remove all food items accumulated during your stay from cabinets, pantry, counters, and refrigerator, and wipe surfaces and the fridge clean of any spills or food debris.
Clean bathrooms thoroughly including toilet, shower, sink, drain, and floors. Please remove all personal toiletries.
Vacuum all floors including bedrooms, bathrooms, mudroom, kitchen, stairs, and living areas.
Wipe down all surfaces used in the house including tables, nightstands, bookshelves, and dressers.
Store and clean any fishing/boating gear outside of the home and remove on departure. If any fishing or lobstering gear or clothing (e.g., bibs, jackets, boots, gloves, fishing rods/poles, buckets, etc.) are used during the Rental Period, they must be stored outside under the wrap-around deck and cannot be stored in any part of the mudroom, basement, or main house.
Any owner-provided linens or towels (bed sheets, blankets or quilts; throw blankets; dish/bath towels and bathmats) used during your stay must be washed and hung to dry on the clothesline before departure.
Note: Although some items may be used and washed just before leaving, please try to completely dry as many items as possible and leave others drying on the clothesline if weather permits.
Very Important: Shut interior/exterior doors and make sure storm doors are securely latched in place, close all windows, including storm, and close ALL blinds/curtains.

Security Deposit Refund
The property managers or owners will inspect the home after checkout. Before any refund of your security deposit is made, they will deduct the costs associated with not adhering to the rental agreement or the Cleaning & Maintenance Instructions, and/or costs from damages to the premises or its furnishings.
